Bestman Solutions is supporting a leading financial market infrastructure organisation undergoing significant technology modernisation across its post-trade platforms.
As part of a growing architecture function, the organisation is seeking an experienced Solutions Architect with a particular focus on Asset Servicing.
This is an opportunity to help shape the target architecture of complex, business-critical platforms while translating strategic technology direction into pragmatic, technically deliverable solutions.
The Role
This is a permanent hybrid role, with two days per week based in London.
The Solutions Architect will sit between enterprise architecture and engineering, defining end-to-end solutions across Asset Servicing and wider post-trade technology initiatives.
Working closely with Domain Architects, Product Owners, Engineering teams and other technology stakeholders, you will help translate enterprise architecture principles into practical solutions while ensuring alignment across security, resilience, integration and wider technology standards.
The role requires someone comfortable moving between high-level architecture and detailed technical implementation, with the judgement to identify dependencies, challenge assumptions and make pragmatic architectural trade-offs across complex programmes.
You will:
- Define end-to-end solution architectures across Asset Servicing and wider post-trade technology initiatives.
- Ensure solutions meet functional, non-functional, security, resilience and architectural requirements.
- Translate enterprise and domain architecture principles into practical technology solutions.
- Work closely with Domain Architects, Product Owners, Engineering teams and wider technology stakeholders.
- Contribute to target architectures and technology roadmaps for the Asset Servicing domain.
- Design solutions using event-driven, service-based, API and microservices architectures.
- Provide architectural guidance throughout the delivery lifecycle, from initial design through to implementation.
- Identify technical dependencies, risks and architectural trade-offs across complex programmes.
- Develop reusable architecture patterns and technology building blocks.
- Support the continued development of Solution Architecture and Software Engineering practices.
- Provide pragmatic technical recommendations while maintaining alignment with wider enterprise standards.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has significant experience as a Solutions Architect, ideally within large-scale technology transformation programmes.
- Brings strong knowledge of Asset Servicing, securities, post-trade or capital markets technology.
- Has experience designing complex, end-to-end technology solutions within enterprise environments.
- Has strong knowledge of event-driven architecture, microservices, service-based architecture and REST APIs.
- Has technical experience across environments including Java, Linux, OpenShift or other containerised platforms, and Azure Cloud.
- Has experience working with mainframe or Tandem environments.
- Understands modern integration patterns and data technologies.
- Has experience working within Agile and DevOps environments, including CI/CD.
- Can move confidently between high-level architectural thinking and detailed technical implementation.
- Brings strong analytical and problem-solving skills across complex systems and technology estates.
- Can challenge constructively and communicate architectural recommendations clearly to both engineering teams and senior stakeholders.
Particularly Relevant Experience
- Asset Servicing processes including corporate actions, income, custody, securities processing or related areas.
- Post-trade market infrastructure, securities services, banking or capital markets environments.
- The regulatory environment surrounding securities and post-trade services.
- SAFe or other scaled Agile delivery models.
- Enterprise Architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or Open Agile Architecture.
- JavaScript front-end frameworks such as Angular.
